Features

What DDL delivers for project planning

From initial material selection to the finished production report, all planning steps in one platform.

True-to-scale stone planning

Place natural stone slabs with millimeter accuracy on project surfaces. Walls, floors, countertops and facades are rendered to scale in the digital plan.

Real-time team collaboration

Architects, suppliers and project teams work cloud-based on the same planning foundation. Changes are visible instantly for everyone.

Optimize material yield

See slab utilization directly in the plan. DDL shows waste per raw slab and helps incorporate offcuts efficiently.

Production data & calculation

From the finished plan, cutting tickets, measurements and production files are generated. DDL recognizes processing features such as chamfers, cut edges and drill holes and automatically creates a project calculation as a basis for quotes.

Multiple design variants

Quickly create different design variants with different materials. Compare appearance, costs and yield side by side.

Convince clients visually

Show your clients photorealistic previews before a single stone is cut. Approvals happen faster and trust is established immediately.

Workflow

How digital project planning works

From material selection to production and back to inventory, in a few clear steps.

1

Link planning

Import existing floor plans and drawings into DDL and use them as the basis for material planning.

2

Select material

Choose natural stone by design criteria: evaluate color, veining and surface effect in the context of the planned area.

3

Design the surface

Place slabs precisely on the project surface and design the interplay of veining, joints and area.

4

Coordinate with the client

Share a photorealistic preview with the client, gather feedback and evaluate design variants together.

5

Release to production

Hand the approved plan to production. Cutting tickets, measurements and production data are generated automatically.

1

Select material

Choose natural stone directly from your supplier's online inventory or digitize your own slabs via smartphone and AI. DDL provides access to thousands of materials in the gallery.

2

Plan surfaces

Place slabs to scale on walls, floors, countertops and facades. Every detail is rendered with millimeter accuracy in the digital plan, including joints, cutouts and special shapes.

3

Optimize yield

Analyze slab utilization per raw slab, minimize waste and incorporate offcuts from earlier projects. DDL makes material consumption transparent and controllable.

4

Calculate and produce

DDL recognizes processing features layer by layer, chamfers, cut edges (linear meters) and drill holes, and generates an automatic project calculation. From this, cutting tickets, measurement lists and production reports are created directly from the plan.

5

Return offcuts to inventory

After cutting, offcuts are automatically returned to inventory and available for further project phases. Cut pieces can be assigned to orders, a closed loop from planning through cutting to inventory management.

DDL visualization of natural stone in the project

Photorealistic rendering in the plan

DDL renders natural stone in the highest quality directly in the plan. Clients and architects see the finished result to scale and in detail, as if the stone were already installed. The live preview enables faster decisions.

  • True-to-scale placement on all surfaces
  • Live preview when changing materials
  • Photorealistic rendering for client presentations
DDL team collaboration in the project

Team access and project management

Invite team members, architects and clients by email. Each participant sees the current project status and can contribute according to their assigned permissions. Project status, revisions and approvals are documented centrally.

  • Email invitation with permission management
  • Central project status for all participants
  • Revisions and approvals documented
DDL material optimization and waste analysis

Slab utilization and waste analysis

DDL shows slab utilization per raw slab in real time. Teams see immediately where waste occurs and can incorporate offcuts from earlier projects. The waste analysis makes material consumption transparent and measurable.

  • Utilization per raw slab in real time
  • Incorporate offcuts from earlier projects
  • Minimize waste, reduce costs
DDL production reports and BIM export

Reports, cutting tickets and BIM export

From every plan, DDL generates detailed production data: cutting tickets, measurements, area calculations and parts lists. BIM-compatible exports enable seamless integration into digital building models.

  • Detailed cutting tickets and measurement lists
  • BIM-compatible exports for architects
  • Seamless transition from planning to fabrication

Up to 20% savings on planning and material
As architects, we face the challenge of planning natural stone projects efficiently and precisely to avoid costly errors and material waste. DDL has helped us enormously. The platform offers virtual layouts, full control over material selection and cutting, as well as BIM-compliant documentation. This clearly sets DDL apart from the competition. Now we can execute our projects exactly as planned, have real-time insight into production status and maintain full control.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about project planning

Is DDL difficult to learn?
No. DDL was designed specifically for architects and stone professionals and is intuitive to use. Our support team is available to help with onboarding.
How much does DDL cost?
DDL is free for architects and designers, we want to democratize access to the platform and foster better design. Stone suppliers and fabricators pay a subscription in various tiers, based on feature scope and number of employees. Additionally, we offer Planning-as-a-Service as a paid add-on: the DDL team can handle the complete project planning for you.
Which stone types are supported?
DDL supports all major natural stone types: marble, granite, quartzite, onyx, travertine and more.
Is DDL suitable for small projects?
Project planning is optimized for large-scale work, facades, floors, complex cuts. For small projects like a single bathroom vanity or a standard kitchen countertop, full project planning is usually overkill. For simple cuts, we recommend the Handscanner App instead: place a parts list on the slab, plan the cut, return offcuts to inventory. DDL covers both scenarios, with different tools for different scales.
How secure is my data with DDL?
Data security is the top priority. All project data is stored on secure servers with regular backups and encryption. Full ownership and control remains with the customer.
